One thing that always bothered me about that picture of mulan, more than the obvious artifice which is pretty out of character, is the colour of her outfit. The general consensus seems to be that mulan took place in the Northern Wei dynasty, but during the Tang Dynasty which preceded it, the colour yellow, especially bright yellow, had become the exclusive domain of the Emperor. And in those times disrespect to the Emperor could cost you your head at best and the lives of you and your entire family at worst. So, y know, maybe don’t put her in yellow clothes.

I love the history side if tumblr

I think this is because Disney is trying to force Mulan into a princess role when she wasn’t royalty at all. Her style of dress in this photo denotes she has royal status when that’s not even the case.

didyouknowwaltdisney:

The book of life isn’t a Pixar or Disney animated film. It’s by reel fx studios. The Dia de los muertos project that Pixar is doing is a completely different film and won’t be out till 2016.

Did you know? There is a place in Tokyo Disneyland where flash pictures are actually encouraged? That place is none other than Cinderella Fairy Tale Hall. For those that don’t know it’s an attraction in Tokyo Disneyland where you are invited by Cinderella herself to tour the castle! Inside there are portraits that have been laced with a special kind of magic by the Fairy Godmother that display secret messages. But only when you take a flash picture of them! If you ever have the privilege of visiting try and take pictures of all the portraits, you never know which ones may have a secret message! And look out for Jaq and Gus along the way!
Video of the effect here!

Disney recycled scenes to save time.

And people are bashing Frozen because…?

to save time? it was to save MONEY. back in what we now call the “Disney Dark Ages” they did not have the funds to be able to create everything from scratch, so scenes, character models, backgrounds, etc would be xeroxed. traditional animation is EXPENSIVE. a lot of original cels do not exist anymore because they had to use the cel sheets over and over!
a big reason why people shit on Frozen using the same design on three different characters and not for xeroxing back in the day is because Disney, in this day and age, as one of the wealthiest corporations in the world, ABSOLUTELY has the funds to not need to re-use the same model over and over.
The Aristocats and The Jungle Book had a budget of $4 million. Robin Hood's budget was 1.5 million. The Rescuers was a measly 1.2 million.
The budget for Frozen was $150 million. It made $1,263,716,698 at the box office. Disney, in 2014, with all it’s money and skilled employees, has NO excuse for re-using designs.
